Hi, I'm Lucy

I am delighted that you have found your way to Surrey Breastfeeding.

Whether you are seeking information, reassurance, or support for your breastfeeding journey, you can rely on my expert, evidence-based guidance and passionate care.

Lucy Hamill IBCLC

Breastfeeding is like a dance

Your baby is born wanting to suckle. As a mother you want to breastfeed…But you need to work together to learn the moves and find your unique rhythm.

Contact

It typically takes 6–8 weeks for mother and baby to settle into breastfeeding — and just when you think you’ve nailed it, the dance evolves. Your baby grows and changes.

There will be highs and lows on this journey.

My goal is to give you the skills, knowledge and confidence to go with the flow and enjoy nourishing your baby.

There is no single right way to breastfeed. My role is to support and guide you through your individual journey, respecting your context and valuing your personal thoughts, feelings and perspectives. I will not tell you what to do. I will help you find what works for you.

More about me

Based in Woking. Working across Surrey.

Lucy and her boys.

Supporting mothers and families with breastfeeding and lactation is at the heart of everything I do — alongside the joy of raising my three wonderful, permanently hungry boys!

My work as an IBCLC allows me to practise in a wide range of settings: NHS maternity wards, private homes, complex feeding clinics, community drop-ins, and as a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor with an international charity.

Across all of these environments, one thing is constant — the dedication of mothers and families committed to nourishing their babies with breastmilk.

I have a particular interest in breastfeeding after a caesarean section, and experience supporting families through gestational diabetes, tongue-tie, low supply, and a range of other clinical situations.

As an IBCLC (Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and accredited Breastfeeding Counsellor, I hold the highest qualification available in lactation support.

Achieving IBCLC certification requires a minimum of 1,000 supervised clinical hours supporting families with breastfeeding, 100+ hours of lactation-specific education, and passing a rigorous four-hour, degree-level examination. IBCLCs are regulated internationally and required to recertify regularly to stay current.

This matters because not everyone offering breastfeeding support holds a recognised qualification. When you invite me into your home, you can be confident that the advice and support I offer is evidence-based, comprehensive, and safe.

You can verify my credentials at any time through the IBLCE Commission Public Registry. My certification number is L-320756.
